PAF ringleaders are

Head Coach: Osumi-san Assistant Coach: Eda-san (aka Jijii, the pencil man) Goalie Coach: Shibata-san Den Mother: Tomo Ohara Captain: Taki

positionsThe 1994 and 1995 seasons (my first two seasons with Paf), were building years. Akiyama, Ha-chan, Noda, and Usui provided a strong defense and Miho, Tomo, and Taki were in the first few years of their efforts in the middle. The offense included Shinoda, Osawa, and Kazu. It was my first experience with the 4-3-3 pictured to the left.

team photoIn 1996, PAF had some line-up changes due to high school and college graduations. We also gained some new members in 13 year olds, Sawa and Mori-chan and new college graduates. This marked the beginning of the Tsukuba years at PAF. In 1996, there were 6 Tsukuba University graduates on the team. Halfway through the season, Yuki joined us and greatly improved our scoring punch. It ended up being a year of seconds- 2nd in the Spring Tokyo Tournament; 2nd in the Sugaideira Tournament; 2nd in the Fall Tokyo Tournament; and 2nd in the league.

Kei at the Kanto tourney 1997 was a great year for PAF. We finished first in both of the Tokyo tournaments and in the league. We finished third in the Kanto and Sugadeira Tournaments. It was a somewhat bittersweet ending to PAF careers for Yuki, Shizuka, and myself.

The 1998 season appears to be somewhat of a rebuilding year with early losses in the Spring Tokyo Tournament and the Sugadeira Tournament. The team finished 3rd in the Fall Tokyo Tournament. While tournament finishes haven't been as high as last year, many of the younger members are getting a chance to play. It was time for us old folks to pass the torch, well, OK, except Tomo, who I think will still be on the field at 70, but that's beside the point. I have great confidence that the kids will be topping the tourneys and league again real soon.
